Zakat

An annual charitable obligation in Islam based on eligible wealth.

Définition

Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It requires Muslims to give a portion (typically 2.5%) of qualifying wealth to those in need once it reaches the nisab threshold.

Exemple

If your eligible wealth exceeds the gold nisab and totals $20,000, your zakat would be approximately $500.
